NAVAID Electrical Duct Bank Emergent Care
Austin, TX · near Austin-Bergstrom Intl (0.9 mi)
What this outcome means
The FAA sent the case back to the filer rather than issuing a determination. This is the most common non-clean outcome and usually means something has to change or be supplied before the study can finish — not that the project was refused.
The proposal, in the filer's words
"Two crews will be accomplishing simultaneous efforts in order to replace a paved over man hole (south) and replace a collapsing duct bank and pull box (north). \n\nFor the south location one crew will work to expose the pull box and raise it to ground level form concrete around it and create a concrete pad with a ring and cover in the middle to allow service in the future. \n\nFor the north location crews will replace the collapsing duct bank serving FAA ILS. Austin Energy and their sub-contractors Mastec will first de-energize the service and pull wire from the duct bank. The contract team will then excavate and demolish the collapsing pull box in place removing pieces by hand and small machinery. On approximately the 5th day of work the new pull box will be brought via boom truck and hoisted into position. This operation will take approximately two (2) hours. Boom truck spec sheet attached in reference lift will not exceed 72 ft AGL. Once set into place the boom truck will leave and crews will begin the recommissioning process. Once installed the line will be re-energized and service will be re-established to FAA ILS. \n\nAUS and FAA/ATCT/SSC have been in communication throughout the planning process and have coordinated the contingency procedures for execution. \n\nAll work will be accomplished during daylight hours Monday thru Saturday."

Screening a structure of your own?
Check Part 77 and the tower's line of sight before you file
LOS Analyzer screens a proposed structure against FAA Part 77 surfaces and the control tower's sightline to the runway, terrain-aware, in minutes. It is a preliminary screening — not an FAA determination and not a substitute for a licensed engineering review.
