Determination of no hazardDetermined - No Hazard50 ft AGL

What this outcome means

The FAA studied the proposal and concluded it would not be a hazard to air navigation. A no-hazard determination is not permanent — it carries an expiration date, and if the structure is not built by then the case has to be re-filed.

The proposal, in the filer's words

"The structure is approximately 50’ tall and is comprised of one primary steel pipe that is 12” in diameter x ¼” thick that is welded to a 10’x8’ set of 1” thick steel trench plates that is on the ground with 3’ of soil piled on top. A 3/16” steel section is connected to both the trench plate and the pipe via welds to form the digging part of the shovel. The main pipe is sleeved approximately half way with a 3’ long x ¼” thick sleeve. The structure has scenic cladding around the pipe as well as at the top to create a shovel handle. The maximum width of the structure is approximately 11’-6” at the shovel base. Figure 1 shows a rendering of the structure in question."

Screening a structure of your own?

Check Part 77 and the tower's line of sight before you file

LOS Analyzer screens a proposed structure against FAA Part 77 surfaces and the control tower's sightline to the runway, terrain-aware, in minutes. It is a preliminary screening — not an FAA determination and not a substitute for a licensed engineering review.
