A4 radar lift
Joint Base Andrews, MD · near Joint Base Andrews (1.2 mi)
What this outcome means
The FAA studied the proposal and concluded it would not be a hazard to air navigation. A no-hazard determination is not permanent — it carries an expiration date, and if the structure is not built by then the case has to be re-filed.
The proposal, in the filer's words
"A truck-mounted 60-ton crane (with peak flag and lights) will be on station for about 3 hours (arrival to departure) to lift the A4 radar trailer onto a flatbed trailer and frame for testing purposes. This will raise the complete radar trailer about 13.5'. This configuration has been socialized and approved for use by the host organization POCs. This additional height allows for a better airspace picture to support the NCR-IADS mission during evaluation testing. The crane lift plan has the peak height for the required lift rounded up to 80'"

Screening a structure of your own?
Check Part 77 and the tower's line of sight before you file
LOS Analyzer screens a proposed structure against FAA Part 77 surfaces and the control tower's sightline to the runway, terrain-aware, in minutes. It is a preliminary screening — not an FAA determination and not a substitute for a licensed engineering review.
