Crane · 2026
440 Ton Crane
Clarksburg, WV · near North Central West Virginia (5.1 mi)
What this outcome means
The FAA studied the proposal and concluded it would not be a hazard to air navigation. A no-hazard determination is not permanent — it carries an expiration date, and if the structure is not built by then the case has to be re-filed.
The proposal, in the filer's words
"Temporary operation of multiple mobile cranes to support construction of the Wolf Summit Energy Center. Crane operations will occur only within the defined crane operating envelope (Attachment A; NAD 83) and within the permitted project Limit of Disturbance (Attachment B). Maximum crane height is up to 260 feet AGL (measured from existing grade at crane setup locations within the envelope) with a maximum crane tip elevation of 1 363 feet MSL (NAVD 88). Attachment C is provided as visual context depicting nearby terrain/settlement and existing tall structures for FAA consideration. As a voluntary safety measure obstruction lighting will be provided on any crane boom elevated above 150 feet AGL from sunset to sunrise and during periods of reduced visibility."

Screening a structure of your own?
Check Part 77 and the tower's line of sight before you file
LOS Analyzer screens a proposed structure against FAA Part 77 surfaces and the control tower's sightline to the runway, terrain-aware, in minutes. It is a preliminary screening — not an FAA determination and not a substitute for a licensed engineering review.
