Emergency Repair Bucket Truck
Forestville, MD · near Joint Base Andrews (3.1 mi)
What this outcome means
The FAA studied the proposal and concluded it would not be a hazard to air navigation. A no-hazard determination is not permanent — it carries an expiration date, and if the structure is not built by then the case has to be re-filed.
The proposal, in the filer's words
"EMERGENCY REPAIR-Emergency repairs include tree trimming and restoration of a washout extending approximately 20 feet along the shoulder. Of the 12-foot-wide paved shoulder 5 feet of pavement has been lost and an additional 2 feet has been undermined leaving only 5 feet of pavement between the erosion and the travel lane.\n\nThe erosion is approximately 4 feet deep at the pavement edge with a gully extending to the toe of slope and varying in width from 3 to 20 feet. A second gully is developing to the north approximately 3 feet wide which has not yet impacted the paved shoulder. In addition a 30-inch RCP outfall within the washout area shows signs of minor instability.\n\nThe washouts appear to be the result of long-term accumulation of sediment and debris along the shoulder which has concentrated stormwater runoff exploited a weak point in the embankment and initiated slope erosion.\n\nThis condition poses a significant safety risk as continued deterioration could undermine and lead to loss of the roadway. In the meantime the shoulder has been closed to vehicular traffic."

Screening a structure of your own?
Check Part 77 and the tower's line of sight before you file
LOS Analyzer screens a proposed structure against FAA Part 77 surfaces and the control tower's sightline to the runway, terrain-aware, in minutes. It is a preliminary screening — not an FAA determination and not a substitute for a licensed engineering review.
