What this outcome means

The FAA sent the case back to the filer rather than issuing a determination. This is the most common non-clean outcome and usually means something has to change or be supplied before the study can finish — not that the project was refused.

The proposal, in the filer's words

"The improvements to be constructed under this contract are located along the Elgin O’Hare Western Access Tollway (I-490) between Mile Post 3.9 and Mile Post 6.3 in DuPage and Cook Counties Illinois. The scope of work includes earthwork and grading maintenance of existing haul roads and demolition of the former K-9 facility off Touhy Avenue along with protection of aviation operational equipment and utilities and implementation of erosion and sediment control measures. The project also involves construction of drainage systems and detention basins permanent retaining walls and moment slabs and new mainline pavement and shoulders between MP 4.3 and MP 5.9. Screening a structure of your own?

Check Part 77 and the tower's line of sight before you file

LOS Analyzer screens a proposed structure against FAA Part 77 surfaces and the control tower's sightline to the runway, terrain-aware, in minutes. It is a preliminary screening — not an FAA determination and not a substitute for a licensed engineering review.
