St James ASU 2 Cold Box
St. James, LA · near Louisiana Rgnl (13.8 mi)
What this outcome means
The FAA studied the proposal and concluded it would not be a hazard to air navigation. A no-hazard determination is not permanent — it carries an expiration date, and if the structure is not built by then the case has to be re-filed.
The proposal, in the filer's words
"Air Liquide plans to install a new industrial gas production facility to produce purified nitrogen oxygen and argon to supply their customers. This facility will require the installation of an air separation unit that will separate air into its elemental components (nitrogen oxygen and argon). This air separation unit involves a \cold box\" which is a cryogenic distillation column necessary for this separation process. This cold box will be 230 feet above ground level. Air Liquide previously installed another cold box at the neighboring facility and received a Determination of No Hazard to Air Navigation from the FAA. The aeronautical study number for this other cold box is 2019-ASW-2126-OE. There has not been an aeronautical study completed for this proposed cold box.""

Screening a structure of your own?
Check Part 77 and the tower's line of sight before you file
LOS Analyzer screens a proposed structure against FAA Part 77 surfaces and the control tower's sightline to the runway, terrain-aware, in minutes. It is a preliminary screening — not an FAA determination and not a substitute for a licensed engineering review.
