Drill Rig and Test Blast Holes

Dayton, NV · near Dayton Valley Airpark (1.2 mi)

Determination of no hazardDetermined - No Hazard30 ft AGL

What this outcome means

The FAA studied the proposal and concluded it would not be a hazard to air navigation. A no-hazard determination is not permanent — it carries an expiration date, and if the structure is not built by then the case has to be re-filed.

The proposal, in the filer's words

"The purpose of this project is to conduct a series of test blast holes to determine parameters for ongoing blasting activities at the 3D Concrete Pit in Dayton NV. \n\nA single-row regression shot of 31 holes at 5.5-inch diameter was laid out at the Dayton Pit blast area oriented at azimuth -70.8°. Bench heights ranged from 25 to 32.5 ft (avg 28.2 ft) with 10-ft hole length 10-ft burden and 20-ft spacing. Three seismographs will be deployed to monitor blasting activities. Total estimated blast column is 7ft above ground level and the total height of the drill rig fully erected is 30ft above ground level. \n\nThe purpose of the program is to develop site-specific attenuation relationships for ground vibration air blast and flyrock for FAA review and protection of the Dayton Airpark. Deliverables pending from CNPB include the regression report attenuation curves flyrock assessment compliance discussion and final FAA support documentation."

Screening a structure of your own?

Check Part 77 and the tower's line of sight before you file

LOS Analyzer screens a proposed structure against FAA Part 77 surfaces and the control tower's sightline to the runway, terrain-aware, in minutes. It is a preliminary screening — not an FAA determination and not a substitute for a licensed engineering review.
