Boston, MA · near Brigham & Women'S Hospital (0.6 mi)

Determination of no hazardDetermined - No Hazard347 ft AGL

What this outcome means

The FAA studied the proposal and concluded it would not be a hazard to air navigation. A no-hazard determination is not permanent — it carries an expiration date, and if the structure is not built by then the case has to be re-filed.

The proposal, in the filer's words

"Proposed crane for the construction of the Pike Residence Hall at Wentworth Institute of Technology determined no hazard under ASN 2026-ANE-921-OE. Following an initial crane jump from approximately 250 feet the points filed reflect the hammerhead crane at its maximum height configuration. Point 1 at the tower mast represents the maximum height of the crane Point 2 is placed at the jib tip radius in climbing configuration and Point 3 at the jib tip radius facing Boston-Logan Int'l Airport. The 187-foot jib will operate at a position perpendicular to the tower base. A 10-foot buffer has been added to account for potential variances."

Screening a structure of your own?

Check Part 77 and the tower's line of sight before you file

LOS Analyzer screens a proposed structure against FAA Part 77 surfaces and the control tower's sightline to the runway, terrain-aware, in minutes. It is a preliminary screening — not an FAA determination and not a substitute for a licensed engineering review.
